THE SHOW "Samantha Who?"
WHEN|WHERE Tomorrow at 8:30 p.m. on ABC/7.
Co-created by "P.S. I Love You" author Cecelia Ahern, the show still finds the title character putting the pieces back together after she emerges from a hit-and-run-
induced coma - with no memory of her earlier life, in which she wasn't very nice.
NEW NIGHT Applegate says she isn't surprised ABC relocated "Samantha Who?" from its previous Monday slot. "I'm always afraid of change," she says. "I liked where we were, but it's unrealistic because of the nature of "Dancing With the Stars" [now occupying the network's Monday lineup again]. Hopefully, this will be a new home for us, if all goes well."
THE FUTURE Applegate says she feels positive about third-season prospects for "Samantha Who?" and also about her health. Her double mastectomy made headlines last summer, shortly before the telecast of the "Stand Up to Cancer" fundraiser on which she had committed to appear before the news broke. If she'd had her choice, it wouldn't have broken then.
"I had known about it since April," she says. "I just kept it very quiet, so when it came out, it was kind of old news for me. The unfortunate thing was being recognizable in the hospital hallways, trying to get my first bit of exercise after the surgeries. Someone saw me, and that's how it all came out. I really hadn't planned on talking about it yet."
