From petals to buds to giant roses, this season is all about flowers. Every bridal designer sent a version of artfully crafted three-dimensional flowers down the runway. Romantic and bold, these are not just your garden variety flowers. Arrangements in their own right, these realistic bouquets adorn simple silhouettes in silk taffeta, tulle and organza.
On her aptly named Rose gown, Reem Acra drapes a cluster of silk flowers asymmetrically from one shoulder over a sheer tulle overlay. Floral garlands wrap gracefully around Melissa Sweet's Minnie dress. Christos places a patch of blooms at the waist with petals floating playfully down the skirt. Claire Pettibone, whose inspiration stems from a blending of Asian cultures, places an oversized cherry blossom on one shoulder. The skirt of Amsale's Bijou gown is fully layered with swirling taffeta florets. In so many ways, blossoms rule the day. And if it isn't enough to stop and smell the roses, you can wear them now, too.
