Alligators have been found in various places on Long Island recently, with the first captured on Sept. 28 in Mastic Beach.

Roy Gross, chief of the Suffolk County SPCA, said a roughly 18-inch alligator was found on by a Hampton Street resident in Southampton. This is the ninth gator found wandering LI in recent months. (Nov. 11, 2012)
