Altice USA is launching an essay contest in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month.
The program offers students in grades 6-12 the opportunity to win a $1,500 grand prize scholarship. Three iPad minis will be given to runners-up in the middle school and high school categories.
Participating students must live in an area covered by Optimum or Suddenlink services, the company said in a news release.
The contest is offered through a partnership with Condista, which represents a number of Spanish-language TV channels.
Entries should be 500 words or less describing “a Latino, past or present” who students would like to spend a day with and why. Students may submit essays through Nov. 1.
A winner will be announced by Dec. 1, the company said. More information about the contest and how to enter is available at www.AlticeConnects.com/HHM.
Altice owns 25 percent of Newsday Media Group.
