Centenarian: Filomena DeFilippo of St. James

Filomena "Tootsie"

DeFilippo was born July 1, 1910, in the East Harlem section of Manhattan, the oldest of six children (three now deceased). She married Joseph DeFilippo and had two sons, Alfred and Joseph. They moved to Bethpage in 1955 and Miami in 1967. Filomena was widowed in 1983 and lived on her own until she was 98. She has four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She lives at St. James Plaza Nursing Facility, where she enjoys bingo, Pokeno, movies and parties. She celebrated her birthday there with family and friends, including her sister, Josephine, and brother, John.
