Centenarian: Harry G. Werner

Harry G. Werner, born March 4, 1912, in Manhattan, is one of four children. Harry served in the Marines, the Navy and the Army during World War II. In the Navy he served on the USS Missouri. After the war Harry returned to Manhattan and worked as a conductor and supply manager for the New York City Transit Authority. He retired in 1968 after 22 years. Harry moved to Long Island, settling in Center Moriches, where he worked as a part-time school bus driver. He was married to Ester Savino for 19 years before being widowed in 1998. He lives at Suffolk Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Patchogue. He celebrated his birthday with his stepson, Peter, and his family, and niece, Loretta.
