Centenarian: James Oliveto

JAMES OLIVETO was born Nov. 12, 1910, in Manhattan to Victoria and Antonio Oliveto, who immigrated to the United States from Italy. James was married to Loretta Pinto for 51 years before being widowed. They lived in Astoria and in 1951 moved to New Hyde Park. James worked for Sperry Corp., retiring at age 68. He has four daughters, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He attributes his longevity to positive thinking and a sense of humor. He celebrated his 100th birthday at home in New Hyde Park with his family.
