Centenarian: Rosel Rodenhurst

Rosel Rodenhurst was born May 24, 1912, in Lauterecken, Rhein Pfalz, Germany, with seven siblings. In 1949 she came to visit her two brothers who lived in East Northport and St. Albans. While here, she met her husband, Edward Rodenhurst (now deceased). She has many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews as well as her dachshund and cat. She says her secret to longevity is "growing up eating organic fruits and vegetables and staying active with sports, especially swimming." Rosel enjoys feeding birds, chipmunks, squirrels and rabbits. She celebrated her birthday at home in Lloyd Harbor with family and friends, who traveled from Germany and throughout the United States.
