A Copiague man was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle after, police said, he drove the wrong way and got into a crash in North Amityville early Sunday.

Juan Cartypena, 41, of South Prospect Street, was arrested after he drove a 2003 Ford Escape south in the northbound lanes of Route 110 and collided with another vehicle near Jefferson Avenue at 3:40 a.m., Suffolk County police said.

Cartypena and the occupant of the other vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

He was issued a desk appearance ticket in Suffolk First District Court in Central Islip.
