A man and a woman pistol-whipped and robbed another man Sunday in Montauk and then led officers from three agencies on a chase before being caught in Amagansett, East Hampton Town Police said.
Jarryd J. Cox, 31, of Mastic Boulevard in Mastic, and Keirsten Escobar, 22, of Amityville Street in Islip Terrace, face multiple charges after their arrest by East Hampton Town Police at about 10:45 a.m.
Police said the two assaulted and robbed a man on Soundview Drive in Montauk, taking his wallet and jewelry after pistol-whipping him.
The victim, 35, gave police a description of the two and the green Ford Explorer they were driving; later, police noticed the Explorer traveling west on Montauk Highway in Amagansett, according to a news release.
The Explorer fled police, driving to the rear of the Amagansett fire station building, police said.
Escobar was caught at the station, police said.
Both a State Police canine unit and a Suffolk County police helicopter were called in a search for Cox, who was found trying to blend in with the crowd at the Balsam Farms stand on Town Lane Road, police said.
Police said they found proceeds from the robbery in the Explorer, along with a handgun and cocaine.
Cox and Escobar are each charged with first-degree robbery, criminal use of a firearm, criminal possession of a weapon, assault, criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of stolen property.
Cox is additionally charged with reckless driving, unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, unlawful aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and resisting arrest.
The two were scheduled to be arraigned Monday at East Hampton Town Justice Court.
