3 broke into pharmacies, stole opioids, cops say

Three people were arrested for breaking into pharmacies and stealing “large quantities” of opioids, Nassau police said Wednesday.

The defendants, who were arrested Tuesday, are: Anthony Cataldo, 50, of Holbrook, Bill Ford, 48, of, Lynn, Massachusetts, and Nicole Maupin, 29, of Bay Shore, police said.

Searches of two of their residences uncovered the fentanyl, OxyContin and oxycodone, the police said in a statement.

An investigation found the trio had broken into Transcript Pharmacy in Farmingdale on July 30, a Duane Reade in North Merrick on Aug. 21, and a Rite Aid in Massapequa on Aug. 22, police said.

Cataldo will be charged with four counts of burglary, Ford with two counts of burglary, and Maupin with three counts of burglary, police said.

They are scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
