Seven people were charged with drunken driving at a sobriety checkpoint in Huntington Station early Saturday, Suffolk County police said.

The arrests were made between 12:24 and 3:18 a.m. on Route 110 at the corner of Church Street.

Police said in a news release that the operation was aimed at preventing injuries and deaths from drunken driving on Fourth of July weekend.

In total, 265 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, which was conducted by officers from Suffolk’s highway patrol bureau assisted by state police.

Those arrested were a 41-year-old man from Huntington Station; a 36-year-old woman from Austin, Texas; a 29-year-old man from Greenlawn; a 29-year-old man from Bay Shore; a 24-year-old man from Holbrook; a 23-year-woman from Huntington Station; and a 22-year-old man from Huntington Station.

Police said they are to be arraigned Saturday at First District Court in Central Islip.
