Aide stole $50,000 in jewelry from Bridgehampton resident, cops say

The home health aide of a Bridgehampton resident was arrested and charged with two felonies in connection with the theft of as much as $50,000 of jewelry, Southampton Town police said on Tuesday.

The theft was reported on Feb. 16 and police said they have located some of the jewelry.

Marta Berisha, 41, of Sag Harbor was arrested Monday and charged with larceny and criminal possession of stolen property, police said.

More arrests are expected as the investigation continues, police said. Berisha was arraigned Tuesday in Southampton Town Justice Court and released on $1,000 bail.
