Albertson drunken driver had two kids in car, Nassau cops say

An Albertson man arrested because police believe he was driving while intoxicated was charged with a felony because he had two 10-year-olds in the vehicle, Nassau County police said.

Dinesh Kutwal, 45, of Netz Place, was stopped at 6 p.m. Tuesday while driving his 2017 Chrysler on Netz Place, police said.

His daughter and her girlfriend were in the vehicle, police said.

Kutwal was held on bail of $2,500 cash or bond in First District Court in Hempstead on charges of driving while intoxicated and endangering the welfare of a child.

He was charged with DWI under Leandra’s Law, which makes it a felony even on first offense to drive drunk with a passenger 15 years or younger in the vehicle.

The law is named for 11-year-old Leandra Rosado, killed in 2009 when a car she was riding in, driven by a drunken driver, overturned on the Henry Hudson Parkway in Manhattan.
