An Amityville man was arrested late Friday and charged with public lewdness after he “aggressively walked” naked toward a woman in the Peter J. Schmitt Massapequa Preserve, police said.

Andrew Parrucci, 57, of Wood Road, was in the preserve, west of Lake Shore Drive and north of Jerusalem Avenue, when he walked toward a 39-year-old woman “causing the victim to become alarmed,” Nassau County police said in a news release.

Another woman, who was on a bicycle, approached Parrucci, who then ran behind the victim into a wooded area and disappeared into the heavy brush, police said.

The victim notified police, whose investigation led to Parrucci at his home at 11:45 p.m.

Nassau County police had stepped up patrols in the vicinity of the preserve Friday after the encounter was reported.

A post in a Facebook group for area moms detailed the encounter. The woman said she was rollerblading near the park’s Jerusalem Avenue entrance about 12:30 p.m. when a man wearing nothing but a hood over his head walked out of the woods and began to approach her. The man fled into the wooded area when a bicyclist rode by, the woman wrote.

Parrucci was arraigned Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead and released. His next court appearance is Dec. 1. Attorney information was not immediately available.
