Fight ends in injuries for officer, man and 2 arrests, police say

Two men were arrested following a fight in Farmingdale early Saturday morning, Nassau County police said.

Officers were called to a business on the 300 block of Main Street shortly before 3 a.m. and arrested Carlos Alvarez-Contreras, 23, of Farmingdale, for allegedly assaulting a 24-year-old man, police said. While placing Alvarez-Contreras under arrest, William Cardoza, 23, of Massapequa, ignored their commands, became aggressive and interfered with Alvarez-Contreras’ arrest, police said in a news release.

As cops attempted to arrest Cardoza, he resisted and injured an officer, police said.

The male victim and the officer were treated for injuries, police said.

Alvarez-Contreras is charged with third-degree assault. Cardoza is charged with second-degree assault, resisting arrest, second-degree obstructing governmental administration and disorderly conduct, police said.

Alvarez-Contreras and Cardoza will be arraigned Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead, police said.
