A Bethpage man is under arrest after he sicced his pit bull on a party guest during an argument Wednesday, forcing the victim to stab the dog with a pocketknife to fend off the attack, police said.
The guest has been hospitalized with non-life-threatening wounds, Nassau County police said.
The party host, George Jordan-Gonzalez, 24, of Hicksville Road, was charged with two counts of second-degree assault and third-degree robbery. He is scheduled for arraignment Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
Police said the victim, 21, was at a party at Jordan-Gonzalez’s home on Hicksville Road when, at about 12:45 a.m., “an argument ensued” — and Jordan-Gonzalez “punched the victim twice in the face.” The victim tried to leave the house, police said, only to have Jordan-Gonzalez order the dog to attack.
“The dog attacked and dragged the victim around inside the home causing severe lacerations to his arms, legs, and shoulders,” police said in a news release.
The victim then took a pocketknife and stabbed the dog, allowing him to break free, police said.
Police said the victim fled and attempted to call 911 on his cellphone, but said Jordan-Gonzalez instead took the phone away.
Another guest called police, and Second Precinct officers responded and arrested the host.
The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment and he was in stable condition, police said.
Police said it was not clear if the dog would survive wounds from the attack.
