Suffolk police said they arrested a Binghamton resident Sunday in connection with 2010 fatal stabbing of a Central Islip man.

Christopher James, 23, was charged with second degree murder in the killing of Kevin Pierson, 38, who was found stabbed to death in his Maplewing Drive home in February 2010, police said.

Police officials said late Sunday night that James was to be held overnight at the department’s Third Precinct in Bay Shore, and is scheduled for arraignment Monday at First District Court in Central Islip.

Six-years ago, Suffolk homicide detectives were called to Pierson’s home, after his cousin called authorities to report finding blood near the front entrance of the house. Once inside, detectives found Pierson dead with multiple stab wounds, police said.

Authorities at the time said there there were no signs of forced entry and no neighbors reported hearing anything unusual.

Police at the time also said Pierson was an employee of M. Slavin and Sons Inc., a Brooklyn fish wholesaler.

In a federal complaint filed in December 2009, Pierson accused his employer of sexual and racial harassment. About a decade before the stabbing, he had also served 90 days in prison after after pleading guilty to third-degree rape and spent five years on probation, according to court records.

A police spokeswoman Sunday night said the agency had no further details on James’ relationship with Pierson, and whether the two knew each other before the stabbing.
