A bookkeeper from Rosedale was arrested Tuesday after she inflated her paycheck starting in October and ending in January, Nassau County police said.
Mary Camuti, 66, of 257th Street, while working for an Elmont company, altered her check to a higher amount on six separate occasions, police said.
In an effort to cover her deeds, she then made false payments to vendors on the company’s accounting system, police said, costing the business $17,000.
Camuti is charged with two counts of grand larceny in the third degree, two counts of grand larceny in the fourth degree, and six counts of possession of a forged instrument in the second degree, police said.
She will be arraigned Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
