Police are investigating a Thursday night fatal crash in Brentwood involving an unlicensed driver, Suffolk County police said.

Zoila Ortega was backing a 1999 Toyota from a driveway onto Crooked Hill Road about 10 p.m. when it was struck by a 2004 Nissan driven by Wilson Nieves, police said.

Zoila, 32, of Brentwood, and her passenger, Maria Alfaro, 52, of Bay Shore, along with Nieves, 33, of Brentwood, were taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore by Brentwood Legion Ambulance, police said.

Alfaro died from her injuries; Zoila and Nieves had non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Nieves was arrested on a charge of second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle. He was issued a desk appearance ticket and ordered to return to court Sept. 28, according to online court records.

His vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
