At around 7:15 p.m. the man entered the MetroPCS store at 1669 New York Ave., showed what looked to be a black handgun and demanded cash and cellphones from an employee, Suffolk County police said.

The man got away with cash, six of the store’s phones and the employee’s iPhone, fleeing north on New York Avenue, then west on West 11th Street, police said.

About 5 feet 9 or 10 inches tall, he was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt with a red circular design on the back, as well as gray sweatpants and black sneakers, police said.
