A Centerport man was driving drunk with his 9-year-old stepson in his vehicle Monday when he struck another stepson who was walking the dog, Suffolk police said.
Scott Lipton, 42, was not injured, but his 13-year-old stepson suffered a broken leg and was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital. The younger stepson was taken to Huntington Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The dog was not injured, police said.
The father was in his Jaguar going south on Laurel Hill Road when he hit the teenager at about 5:50 p.m. in front of his home, then struck a pole, police said.
Lipton, of Lawrence Hill Road, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger under age 16, also known as Leandra’s Law, and endangering the welfare of a child. Police are holding him overnight at the Second Precinct for Tuesday arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip.
