Cops: Bicyclist critical after Uniondale hit and run

Nassau police are seeking the public’s help finding a driver who fled the scene early Sunday after striking a 61-year-old bicyclist in Uniondale, leaving the victim in critical condition.

Police said that shortly before 12:45 a.m., the male bicyclist was headed eastbound on Jerusalem Avenue, west of Union Drive, when a vehicle traveling eastbound on Jerusalem Avenue struck him.

The vehicle continued eastbound, police said, and the victim suffered serious injuries, including multiple fractures. Police did not release the name of the victim. He was transported to a hospital and listed in critical but stable condition, officials said.

Detectives ask anyone with information on the accident to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
