A Floral Park man was arrested early Sunday and charged under Leandra’s Law with driving while intoxicated with a minor in the vehicle, police said.

Albin W. Castillo, 47, of 87th Road, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated, endangering the welfare of a child and imprudent speed. He was arraigned Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead, police said.

Police said a 15-year-old boy was a passenger in the 2015 Toyota. Leandra’s Law makes it an automatic felony to drive while intoxicated when anyone 15 or younger is a passenger.

According to police, Castillo was driving the Toyota south about 1 a.m. on Roslyn Road with the teenage passenger when a Third Precinct officer saw the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and pulled Castillo over.

During the investigation, police said, it was determined that Castillo was intoxicated, and the passenger was released to his father at the scene.

Castillo’s next court appearance is July 6 at First District Court in Hempstead. A judge Sunday granted him a conditional release to probation.
