A hotel room service attendant at the Long Island Marriott in Uniondale was arrested Wednesday after he cleaned out a guest room of $43,000 worth of jewelry, police said.

Kevin Arocho, 24, entered the room without permission on Sept. 1, stealing jewelry and prescription medication that belonged to a 75-year-old victim, Nassau County police said.

Police said Arocho was arrested following an investigation into the thefts at the hotel on James Doolittle Boulevard, and said the victim’s jewelry was recovered during that arrest.

Citing the active investigation, a hotel representative declined to comment on specifics of the situation but said management was cooperating fully with police, noting that “the safety and security of our guests and employees is first and foremost” and added that hotel officials were thankful an arrest had been made and the jewelry returned.

Arocho, of 219th Street, Queens Village, is scheduled for arraignment Thursday in First District Court in Hempstead on charges of third-degree grand larceny and petty larceny.
