Suspect in Rockville Centre punches and robs man, police say

Nassau police said an unknown assailant punched a man in the face in Rockville Centre before taking the victim’s cellphone and wallet.

The victim was walking near the intersection of Merrick Road and Park Avenue at 2 a.m. Saturday when the male suspect struck him before taking his cellphone and wallet containing an unspecified amount of cash, credit cards, and personal papers, police said.

The suspect fled in a small two-door dark colored vehicle eastbound on Merrick Road. The victim refused medical attention.

Police did not have a description of the suspect.

Detectives ask anyone with information on the incident to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
