Two brothers from Sea Cliff were arrested early Saturday morning and charged with burglary for entering an unlocked home in their neighborhood and rifling through a toolbox, Nassau County police said.

Nicholas Lasser, 22, and Stephen Lasser, 19, both of Altamont Avenue, went through an unlocked door into a home on Winding Way about a half-mile from their residence around 1:50 a.m. A woman in the house, 20, heard voices and saw them looking through a toolbox, police said in a news release.

The duo fled on foot but Third Precinct officers found them a short time later on Sea Cliff Avenue, where they were arrested.

The Lassers are charged with second-degree burglary and are to be arraigned Saturday in First District Court in Hempstead.

It was unclear Saturday whether the brothers had a lawyer. Attempts to reach their family were unsuccessful.
