Cops: Shots fired into Freeport home

Someone shot at a Freeport home just before sunrise on Sunday, according to Nassau County police. None of the four people inside the house was hurt.

Jarred by "several loud sounds outside" his Utz Street home at about 5:45 a.m., a 31-year-old man went outside to investigate the noise.

At the edge of his driveway he saw a man on a bike who was wearing a hooded sweatshirt, police said. The man on the bike soon fled on Bedford Avenue.

Police reported recovering "numerous" 9-mm shell casings. Bullet holes were found on both the first and second floors of the home, police reported.

A police spokesman said detectives aren't sure why the house was targeted.
