A Florida woman was charged Saturday night after State Police said she drove while intoxicated with her three children as passengers on the Southern State Parkway.
State Police said a trooper stopped Frances Mora of Hudson, Florida, at about 8 p.m. as she drove westbound on the Southern State Parkway at Exit 25 near North Bellmore. Mora’s three children, ages 5, 8 and 12, were in the car when the trooper observed it swerving out of its lane, police said.
Mora was charged with three counts of felony driving while intoxicated under Leandra’s Law and is currently awaiting arraignment at Nassau County Detention, State Police said.
Under Leandra’s Law, drivers who are intoxicated or impaired by drugs with a passenger 15 years old or younger in the vehicle can be charged with a felony.
