Nassau police charged a couple Monday after officers said they found heroin, oxycodone, MDMA and marijuana on them, with their child sitting in the backseat.
Lynbrook police observed Kenneth Houston, 28, of Jerusalem Avenue, Hempstead, take part in an “illegal transaction” and pulled over the 2006 Chevrolet Malibu he was riding in in front of 490 Sunrise Hwy.
Police arrested and searched both Houston and the Malibu’s driver, Shequilla Wagner, 27, of Redington Street, Bay Shore. Police found 30 glassine envelopes of a substance believed to be heroin, seven oxycodone tablets, a quantity of MDMA and a plastic bag with what appeared to be marijuana. The couple’s daughter, 7, was found safe in the back seat.
Houston was charged with three counts of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and three counts of third degree criminal sale of a controlled substance. Wagner was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful dealing with a child.
Both were arraigned Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead. A judge set bail at $25,000 bond and cash for Houston, which he did appear to post, according to online court records. He is due back in court on Thursday and is represented by Legal Aid, which does not comment on cases.
Wagner, who was also arraigned Tuesday, was given conditional release to probation. She is represented by an assigned Nassau County court defender, according to online court records, and is due back in court on June 24.
