DNA match IDs man breaking into Syosset home, cops say

A Franklin Square man has been charged in an attempted burglary in Syosset Friday night, police said.

According to detectives, Frank Brisco, 55, of Benris Avenue, tried to enter a rear kitchen window of a Cold Spring Road home shortly after 8:30 p.m. by using a pry bar.

The homeowner returned home and saw Brisco damaging his window and Brisco fled on foot through rear yards when he realized he had been seen, police said.

Police said Brisco left his sweatshirt and pry bar near the scene and the items were sent for DNA testing and were returned as positive for Brisco’s DNA.

On Saturday Second Squad detectives, with the assistance of Fifth Precinct police officers arrested Brisco on Caroline Avenue and Hempstead Turnpike in Franklin Square. He was charged with attempted burglary, two counts of possession of burglar tools, and multiple motor vehicle and traffic violations.

Brisco was scheduled for arraignment Sunday in First District Court in Hempstead.
