Rescue personnel used hydraulic cutting tools to free a female passenger from a Dodge Durango after its driver ran a red light and crashed late Tuesday in Commack, Suffolk County police said.

The passenger was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital after the crash at 11:35 p.m. on Townline Road, a police spokeswoman said.

She had no details on the passenger’s injuries.

The driver of the 1998 Durango ran a red light, hitting a 2016 Toyota Prius that was leaving the lot at 300 Townline Rd., North Ridge Primary School, police said.

The Durango then struck a utility pole and a tree.

The road was closed from about 12:30 a.m. until 5:45 a.m. so crews could remove debris and repair the utility pole, the spokeswoman said.

Both male drivers and another passenger were taken to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
