18-year-old robbed after leaving job at supermarket, police say

An 18-year-old walking Tuesday from his job at a Key Food in Floral Park was accosted by a robber who was direct and to the point, according to police.

“I’ll shoot you,” the victim told police the robber said to him, adding: “I just got out of jail.”

Now, Nassau County police are searching for the male who robbed the teen of an undisclosed amount of cash on Tulip Avenue near Landau Avenue at about 9:30 p.m. The victim told police he “saw what appeared to be a handgun” in the robber’s waistband. The teen was not injured in the robbery.

Police said the robber appeared to be in his mid-20s and was skinny, with crooked teeth. He wore dark sweatpants and a black jacket. He fled on foot on Landau Avenue.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-8477.
