A Queens woman was arrested Tuesday after a routine membership entry scan at a Levittown gym revealed she had an outstanding warrant — for an incident at another gym in New Jersey.
Nassau County police said Elsie Hobbs, 50, of 15-72 216th St. in Bayside was arrested at the LA Fitness Health Club on Hempstead Turnpike by Major Case Bureau detectives after a gym employee, 21, called 911 to report the search result.
Hobbs was charged with two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and two counts of unlawful possession of personal identification information. She faces arraignment Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead, police said.
Police said that after the employee scanned the information on Hobbs, he was alerted to the warrant in connection with the incident at an LA Fitness center in New Jersey. The investigation by police found Hobbs to be in possession of driver’s licenses from Louisiana, Illinois and Missouri, as well as a Discover card, a Chase debit card and a Bank of America debit card — none of which belonged to her.
