A Far Rockaway woman is accused of assaulting a police officer in Inwood early Monday morning, police said.

Naomi Merle, 22, is charged with second-degree assault, resisting arrest, second-degree obstructing governmental administration and unlawful possession of marijuana, Nassau County police said in a news release.

At her arraignment Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead, Merle was ordered held on $20,000 bond or $10,000 cash, online court records show. She was due back in court on Thursday and represented by the Legal Aid Society of Nassau County.

Police responded to reports of a large fight on Bayview Avenue in Inwood around 6:15 a.m. Monday, police said. Officers broke up the fight, and while they were investigating, Merle began “acting erratically, screaming and threatening officers,” police said.

As officers tried to arrest her, she punched and kicked an officer, who was taken to the hospital for treatment, according to police. Merle had a substance believed to be marijuana in her possession, police said.

Merle was arrested and also taken to the hospital for treatment, the release stated.
