Suffolk police on Monday arrested a Locust Valley man who they said tried to rob a Farmingdale bank – but was quickly caught by two customers who subdued him until officers arrived.

Jesse Josefsberg, 34, of Lattingtown Road is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday on a charge of third-degree robbery in connection with the 9:40 a.m. attempted robbery at the TD Bank at 90 Broadhollow Rd. in Farmingdale, police said.

His attorney could not be reached for comment.

Pattern Crime Unit detectives said Josefsberg entered the bank and approached a teller, leaned over the counter and snatched money from a drawer and tried to run out. But he was stopped by two bank customers who held him in the vestibule where an automated teller machine is located until police arrived.

Josefsberg was being held overnight at the First Precinct and will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip.
