Graffiti found in Hauppauge probed as hate crime, police say

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Hate Crimes Unit detectives are seeking the public's help to identify and locate the person or people who vandalized a vehicle in Hauppauge.

Suffolk County police are investigating graffiti spray-painted on a vehicle in Hauppauge as a hate crime, a department spokeswoman said Monday.

Police responded to a residence on Woodbury Road at about 10 a.m. Sunday to find it vandalized, she said.

Words painted on the vehicle were racist in nature, according to a report by News 12 Long Island.
