Gunman tries to rob Miller Place Ralph’s Italian Ices, cops say

Authorities are investigating an attempted robbery Friday night of a Ralph’s Italian Ices shop in Miller Place, Suffolk County police said.

Assistant Police Commissioner Justin Meyers said the robbery attempt happened at about 10:40 p.m. at a Route 25A store.

Meyers said a man entered the shop and displayed a handgun and attempted to steal cash but fled without proceeds.

The suspect was described as in his 20s.

Police said there were no injuries, but added no other information was immediately available — including who was in the store at the time.
