Hempstead man arrested in repeated Home Depot thefts, cops say

A Hempstead man has been charged with stealing power tools from Home Depot in Elmont on five occasions in recent months, Nassau County police said.

Lesean Armstead, 33, fled and resisted arrest when detectives approached him Wednesday in front of his home on Fulton Avenue, police said.

Police said Armstead stole $3,562 worth of power tools from the store on five occasions between June 23 and Sept. 14.

He was awaiting arraignment in First District Court in Hempstead on multiple counts of larceny, resisting arrest and unlawful possession of marijuana, police said.
