Huntington Station woman shot walking down the street, cops say

Suffolk County police are investigating the shooting of a woman who was wounded above the ankle while walking in Huntington Station late Wednesday.

Police said Lanise Felder of Huntington Station was walking on Craven Avenue toward 10th Avenue when she thought she heard a firecracker explode.

She told police she then felt tingling in her lower leg and realized that she had been shot about four inches above her ankle.

A family member took Felder, 40, to Huntington Hospital, where she contacted police and received treatment, according to a news release.

The release said a black sport utility vehicle, possibly a Nissan Pathfinder, was seen leaving the scene of the shooting.

Detectives ask anyone with more information to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252 or call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-8477.
