A Holtsville woman was being held on $21,000 bond after being arraigned Sunday on charges including driving while intoxicated in Ronkonkoma with her 5-year-old daughter in the car.

Justine Conners, 30, of Union Avenue, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child 15 years old or younger, endangering the welfare of a child, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and criminal contempt for allegedly violating an order of protection prohibiting Connors from being under the influence in the presence of her daughter.

In addition, Connors was charged with petit larceny in the theft of merchandise from a Stop and Shop supermarket, according to court records.

Suffolk County police said patrol officers responded to a call about an intoxicated driver of a Nissan Frontier on Hawkins Avenue shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday. The caller followed the vehicle and told police that the driver pulled into the parking lot of the Stop and Shop supermarket on Portion Road in Ronkonkoma.

Patrol officers found the vehicle and soon after, Connors returned. Upon investigation, it was determined that Connors had been driving while under the influence and had her daughter in the car at the time.

Connors was arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip and her next court date was set for Thursday. Her daughter was released to another family member.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact the fourth squad at 631-854-8452.
