The shoplifter wore an all-red sweatsuit and a black jacket and he fled the scene in a four-door silver sedan with a license plate that partially read “HAK,” police said.

Now, Suffolk County police are asking if the public recognizes the suspect who they said stole two New York Knicks basketball jerseys and two Brooklyn Nets basketball jerseys from a Dick’s Sporting Goods store on Jericho Turnpike in Commack at about 9:45 p.m. May 16.

Police said the man, who was caught on surveillance video, entered the store, stole the jerseys, then fled in the car — which they said was driven by “a heavyset female” who was wearing a pink shirt. She may be in her 40s, police said.

Police ask anyone with information about the thefts to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-8477. All calls will remain confidential, and callers are eligible for a cash reward of up to $5,000 for any information leading to an arrest.
