PORT JEFFERSON STATION / Cop injured in scuffle with larceny suspect

A Suffolk police officer was taken to the hospital with a possible concussion after striking her head on the ground during a scuffle with a larceny suspect, police said Tuesday.

The officer, whose identity was not released, was taken late Monday to St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson, where police said she was treated and released.

The suspect, Victoria Diolosa, 21, of Port Jefferson Station, was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, second-degree harassment, resisting arrest and petty larceny, police said.

Police said the officer had responded to a call about a petty larceny at a CVS store on Nesconset Highway in Port Jefferson Station at 9:45 p.m.

A police spokesman said that once the officer arrived on scene there was an altercation with the suspect, both the officer and suspect went to ground and the officer hit her head.

ROCKY POINT / Man arrested in December bank robbery

A 36-year-old Selden man has been arrested and charged in the robbery of a bank in Rocky Point in December, police said.

Robert Oliver, of 21 Salem Rd., was charged Monday with one count of first-degree robbery, Suffolk police said.

Police said Oliver walked into the Chase branch on Route 25A in Rocky Point around noon on Dec. 11, and told the teller he had a gun and to hand over cash.

The teller complied, police said, and Oliver was last seen fleeing toward a shopping center behind the bank.

Police did not say how much money Oliver stole.

They also did not say what led them to Oliver.

ROCKY POINT / Police: Man broke into cars at gym parking lot

A surveillance operation set up after reports that someone was breaking into cars in the parking lot of a Rocky Point fitness center led to the arrest of a Ridge man earlier this week, police said.

Daniel Donoghue, 22, of 27 Seneca Trail, was arrested at about 10 p.m. Monday and charged with petty larceny and criminal mischief, Suffolk County police said.

Police said officers saw Donoghue break into a car in the Rocky Point Planet Fitness parking lot on Route 25A. He was immediately arrested.

Donoghue was charged with six counts of petty larceny and three counts of criminal mischief, police said.
