A woman suffered second-degree burns to both her hands when they became immersed in a deep-fat fryer during an argument with her husband in front of their children at the family’s Oceanside restaurant Sunday night, Nassau police said.

The incident began as an argument between the woman and her husband, Xiuling Xiao, as the two worked at their Chinese restaurant, police said.

But Xiao then grabbed his 39-year-old wife “by the hair” shortly after 8 p.m. and pushed her toward the deep-fat fryer — causing “both of her hands to become immersed in the boiling oil,” according to police.

The couple’s two children, ages 12 and 14, were at the scene but were not injured.

Xiao, 39, was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, second-degree attempted assault and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

At his arraignment yesterday in First District Court in Hempstead, Xiao was ordered held on $10,500 cash bail or $21,000 bond, and a temporary order of protection was issued. He is due back in court tomorrow.

The woman, whose identity was not released, was brought to a hospital for treatment of her burns, police said.

Police did not release the name of the restaurant.
