Man robs Hempstead Chase bank, Nassau police say

Nassau police are looking for a man they believe robbed a Chase bank Monday morning in Hempstead.

Detectives said the man walked into the bank on Fulton Avenue just before noon and passed a note to a teller demanding money.

The suspect threatened to use a gun, but didn’t show a weapon to the teller, detectives said. The teller gave the suspect an unknown amount of cash, detectives said.

The suspect then left the bank. Authorities said the suspect was 6 feet, 1 inch tall, weighs 180 pounds and is between 25 and 34 years old. He wore a green and orange baseball hat, gray hooded sweatshirt and dark sunglasses during the robbery, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call 800-244-TIPS. Callers will remain anonymous.
