Police are searching for a man who stabbed two other men during “an altercation” at a home Tuesday night in Mastic. The two victims both were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, Suffolk County police said.
Police said the victims, identified as an 18-year-old male and a 19-year-old male, told investigators they were involved in an altercation with another man at a residence on Patchogue Avenue at 8:53 p.m. when that suspect stabbed both of them with a knife — then fled the scene.
The victims attempted to drive themselves to a hospital, but found themselves unable to — instead pulling to the side of the road along westbound Sunrise Highway just east of Horseblock Road, Exit 57, in Yaphank, where they called police. An ambulance then transported the two men to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, police said.
Police said the 19-year-old suffered a stab wound to his left side and the 18-year-old was stabbed in the arm.
Additional information about the altercation was not immediately available and it was not clear how the victims knew the suspect or if police know his identity.
Police said the investigation is continuing.
