Mastic cancer donation jar stolen from car wash, police say

Suffolk County police and Crime Stoppers are looking for a man who last month in Mastic stole $100 from a donation container raising money to combat cancer.

Police on Tuesday released photographs of the suspect, taken from video surveillance at Stadium Wash & Detail, a car wash at 1457 Montauk Hwy.

The suspect took the cash at about 1 p.m. on June 3; he is between 20 and 30 years old and about 5-foot-9 with a thin build, police said.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-8477. All information will be kept confidential.
