Valley Stream man charged in larceny, multiple burglaries

A Valley Stream man faces multiple charges in connection with several burglaries and a larceny in Nassau County, police said.

Donald Smith, 53, of Valley Stream, was arrested in Hempstead on Friday after being identified by Nassau County police detectives through video surveillance and DNA evidence. Smith is accused of stealing cash, credit card readers and checks from four food businesses — Restaurante Y Pupuseria Eugeni in Lakeview, Meat & Grocery Market in Elmont, and China King Restaurant and B & K Beverages, both in Valley Stream.

He is also accused of stealing electronics and a purse containing cash and credit cards from a parked car at a 7-Eleven in Valley Stream. 

Smith has been charged with four counts of third-degree burglary and one count of fourth-degree grand larceny. He was scheduled to be arraigned Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead.
