A Queens man was arrested Friday afternoon, charged with burglarizing two North New Hyde Park homes the day before, Nassau County police said.

Police said Everton D. Augustus, 27, of Bedell Street in Springfield Gardens, entered a home on Blossom Lane at 3:35 p.m. Thursday and stole jewelry, electronics and cash. Augustus then went to a home one street north on Evergreen Lane and swiped jewelry, police said in a news release.

An investigation identified the suspect who committed these crimes as Augustus, police said, and he was arrested without incident at his home. The stolen items were recovered from his home, a Nassau police spokesman said.

Augustus was charged with two counts of second-degree burglary and is to be arraigned Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead.
