A Bronx man has been charged with assault after a physical altercation outside a Queens club that left an Elmont man dead early Saturday, the NYPD said.
The victim was identified Wednesday as Kevin Figueroa, 24.
Police said Figueroa was found unconscious at the corner of Queens Boulevard and Hillyer Street by 110th Precinct officers responding to a 911 call at 4:52 a.m. Saturday. Figueroa, who police said was “unresponsive” and had suffered “head trauma,” was transported to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead. The case was ruled a homicide.
An investigation led to the arrest of Francisco Flores, 20, of East 144th Street in the Bronx, the NYPD said.
An NYPD spokesman said Wednesday that the two men were in a verbal dispute outside the club on Queens Boulevard that turned into a physical altercation, which resulted in Figueroa’s death.
It was not immediately clear if upgraded charges were being considered.
Police said the investigation was continuing.
